Plan your visit

All visits must be booked through the Education Service by the teacher responsible for the study visit or a member of the board of the school/training facility. Bookings must be made at least 10 days in advance of the planned visit date (by telephone, fax or e-mail).

Each group of 15 pupils/students must be accompanied by at least 1 teacher or adult supervisor. This person guides the group and is responsible for its behaviour during the visit.

Admission to the monuments is free, for pupils/students and their teachers/supervisors, if booked in advance through the Education Service and provided that the school/training institute accreditation is presented at the reception on the day of visit. Accreditation should indicate the name of the school/training institute, number of pupils, teachers/trainers and accompanying adults, and the name of the teacher responsible for the study visit. The tickets, which are free of charge, are those indicated by the Educational Service to the ticket office of the monument to be visited upon confirmation of the visit by the school/training institute.

For safety and service quality reasons we have to limit the number of admissions per hour to the monuments. For this reason, a specific time is reserved for each school group. We would ask you to comply with the established time strictly, given that unpunctuality will shorted the visiting time allocated to your group.

Before the visit the pupils/students should be informed of the behaviour expected of them: they must remain in the vicinity of their teacher/supervisor; and circulate in an orderly fashion without making noise, so as not to disturb other visitors in their enjoyment of the monuments and temporary exhibitions.

When they arrive at the monuments pupil/student groups shall wait at the main entrance. In the case of the Tower of Belém, this would be before the walk bridge that leads to the main gate. The teacher responsible for the visit shall go to the reception alone, submit the school/training institute's accreditation and follow the instructions given by the receptionist or other staff member on duty. The instructions given by the monument staff should be respected and followed by all.
